Major League Baseball fans are waiting. They’re waiting to buy tickets, to critique this year’s line up, and to claim the winning bid on the baseball that changed history. In the cold of winter, MLB fans are waiting to load up RVs and campers, to light barbecue pits, and to show their children America wrapped in cow hide and stitched in red. They are also waiting in traffic.

Reaching MLB fans means reaching a very large group of skilled, educated, and affluent Americans, but doing this without cleats and a .350 batting average isn’t easy. Exposure to advertising in traditional media is shrinking and the prices are not. Fans that attended at least one MLB game last year are 46% more likely than the average American to own satellite radio and more than twice as likely to use the internet to get their sports scores and information*, leaving traditional radio and newspaper in the dust. 30% of these fans subscribe to commercial free premium channels and 44% own a digital video recorder (TiVo, etc.)* meaning the only response you can expect from a TV commercial is, “No thanks.”

Outdoor advertising can’t be skipped, changed, or avoided. If you have to drive, ride, or walk anywhere at any time, then we’re right there with you and the size of a bus. Radio, print, and television advertising are being sent back to the minor leagues. Welcome to the Bigs.
